दोस्तों बैंकों से तो आप सभी लोग परिचित होंगे ही बैंक को कौन नहीं जानता बैंक जहां हम अपनी बचत को जमा करवाते हैं अपनी अपनी बचत को सावधि जमा जिसे एफडी भी कहते हैं के रूप में जमा करवाते हैं इन सब पर हमें ब्याज मिलता है हम अपनी जमा को कभी भी निकलवा भी सकते हैं हम बैंक से लोन भी ले सकते हैं हम बैंक के माध्यम से और भी अपने कई वित्तीय कार्य संपन्न करवा सकते हैं।
लेकिन क्या आप जानते हैं कि इस बैंक की उत्पत्ति भारत में कैसे हुई शुरुआती दौर में यह किस रूप में था इसका क्या मतलब था और यह किस तरीके से अपने आप को प्रसारित कर पाया तो आइए आज के लेख में हम जानेंगे यही सब ज्ञानवर्धक बातें-
भारत में बैंकिंग व्यवस्था की शुरुआत कैसे हुई?
बैंक शब्द की उत्पत्ति इटालियन भाषा के Banco शब्द से हुई है जो फ्रेंच भाषा के Banke में बदलता हुआ अंग्रेजी भाषा में Bank हो गया।
भारत में बैंकिंग प्रणाली की शुरुआत 17 वी शताब्दी में ब्रिटिश शासन काल के आगमन के साथ ही शुरू हो गई थी।
भारत में संयुक्त पूंजी कंपनी मतलब ज्वाइंट वेंचर के रूप में सबसे पहले सन 1720 में "बैंक ऑफ मुंबई" की स्थापना बम्बई में हुई।
भारत में यूरोपीय बैंकिंग पद्धति पर आधारित प्रथम बैंक सन 1770 में कोलकाता में स्थापित "बैंक ऑफ हिंदुस्तान" के नाम से था।
भारतीयों द्वारा संचालित और सीमित देयता (Limited Liability) पर आधारित प्रथम बैंक "अवध कमर्शियल बैंक" था जिसकी स्थापना 1881 में की गई थी।
सन 1894 में स्थापित "पंजाब नेशनल बैंक" पूरी तरह से (100%) भारतीयों द्वारा स्थापित पहला बैंक था।
सन 1921 में तीन बैंकों का विलय किया गया जिनमें बैंक ऑफ़ बंगाल, बैंक ऑफ मुंबई और द बैंक ऑफ मद्रास शामिल थे। इन तीनों बैंकों को मिलाकर जिस बैंक की स्थापना की गई| उस बैंक को नाम दिया गया "इंपीरियल बैंक ऑफ इंडिया"|
1 जुलाई 1955 को इंपीरियल बैंक ऑफ इंडिया का नाम बदलकर "स्टेट बैंक ऑफ इंडिया" रख दिया गया था।
तो दोस्तों इस प्रकार यह था भारतीय बैंकिंग व्यवस्था का इतिहास जिसके साथ ही हमारे भारत में बैंकिंग व्यवस्था का उदय मान हुआ।

The banking system in India started in the 17th century with the advent of British rule.
"Bank of Mumbai" was first established in Bombay in 1720 as a joint capital company in India.
The first bank based on European banking system in India was called "Bank of Hindustan" established in Kolkata in 1770.
The first bank operated by Indians and based on limited liability was "Awadh Commercial Bank" which was established in 1881.
The "Punjab National Bank", established in 1894, was the first bank established entirely (100%) by Indians.
Three banks were merged in 1921, including Bank of Bengal, Bank of Mumbai and The Bank of Madras. The bank which was formed by combining these three banks. The bank was named "Imperial Bank of India".
On 1 July 1955, the Imperial Bank of India was renamed "State Bank of India".
So friends, this was the history of the Indian banking system with which the rise of the banking system in our India was recognized.
